Pa Salieu – Send Them To Coventry
Pa Salieu rose to the limelight after his banger “Frontline” took the rap scene by storm at the beginning of 2020, gaining a lot of mainstream support and even a co-sign from J Hus. Since then, he has proved that he is a consistent artist by releasing hit after hit, notably “My Family” with Backroad Gee. After building up all this hype, he has become one of the best artists to emerge this year, and he has rounded off his fantastic year with his debut mixtape: “Send Them To Coventry”.
The Coventry-born star maintains originality throughout the tape, and keeps the energy levels consistent and demonstrates his variety of flows he can attack a beat with. It is everything that was to be expected from the singles Salieu has dropped throughout 2020 and the mixtape is brilliant, you wouldn’t know it was his first mixtape if you listened without knowing who he is.
After a tune as big as “Frontline” was, most artists wouldn’t be able to maintain the quality on a follow-up project. However, some of the tape-only tracks are stand-outs, such as “No Warnin’”, with Trinidadian artist Boy Boy, their styles blend very well and make a great tune. “Informa” with Birmingham rapper M1llionz will certainly take off if it is released with a music video, both artists have had great years and it is only right they collaborate.
Overall, this is a fantastic tape and it shows us that his ceiling is very high and Pa Salieu can be a name to remember as a UK rap great in years to come if he keeps his quality high and momentum going.
