Birmingham’s finest Lady Leshurr has “#Unleshed” some fiery bars in her latest freestyle
Lady Leshurr today dropped the fourth installment in her “Unleshed” freestyle series, flowing with her signature wordplay over the instrumental to fellow Birmingham grime veteran Tana’s hit song “Ride and Clutch” (produced by Kane Kaleb)
Leshurr adopts a typically braggadocious and cheeky viewpoint on the track, comfortably handling the more stripped back drill instrumental. As Leshurr puts it herself “Don’t make me jump on drill / Small girl but I’m a big deal.”
The freestyle does take a turn however, abruptly transitioning into an accompanying outro produced by Sky Beats. The contrast in the production is obvious, moving from Kane Kaleb’s sliding drill 808s to a slower piano instrumental, and Leshurr’s tone similarly shifts abruptly. In the outro she deliberates over deeper subject issues and challenges she has faced, from issues within the industry with label and management situations to the loss of her sister.
With “#Unleshed4” Lady Leshurr makes a real statement of intent and I look forward to what’s to come in the series and what else she’s got in store
