Giggs – Now or Never
After almost two years since the release of his project ‘Big Bad’ in 2019, we have been blessed with a surprise mixtape from SN1’s very own, Giggs. Coming with his trademark, calm and collected flow Hollowman doesn’t fail to deliver, epitomising his timeless clarity.
The South London legend brings in a collection of features, creating a wide range of different sounds all representing who Giggs is. From the street bangers like ‘100 Reps’ featuring Kyze and ‘No Back Bone’ featuring Tiny Boost and Aystar to softer tracks like ‘Changed me’ featuring A Boogie Wit da Hoodie playing with more melodic sounds.
Bringing in Demarco on ‘Everybody Dead’ shows the influence dancehall has had on Giggs’ music making process, something that would have come from his Jamaican parents. We also hear a Nigerian, Afrobeat influence on the track coming in the form of London based Nigerian artist, Obongjayar.
Bringing in a woman’s touch on the album. We hear Jorja Smith on ‘I’m Workin’ and Emeli Sandé on ‘It’s Hard’. Bringing in female vocalists contrasts so well with the depth of Giggs’ tone along with the masculine feel the rest of the project has.
Without a doubt the crowd, favourite from ‘Now or Never’ is the track ‘Straight Murder’. To no surprise we hear Dave set the levels on features again. Coming to challenge the verse we heard on ‘Peligro’, Dave and Giggs never dissapoint.
Run it up here!
