So much content for your head top as Grime Twitter has gone into a frenzy as once again we have seen North London barrer Chip send for Stormzy in a duo of diss tracks; both served up in just 24 hours.
To keep you in the loop, here is a swift account of the happenings so far:
Ears were perked earlier on in the year as Chip allegedly sent shots for Stormzy in his verse on track ‘Waze’- The bars in question appaear to refer Stormzy and his progression as an artist, seemingly linking to Stormzy and his self-proclaimed title as ‘king’.
‘You ain’t been platinum, silver or gold, you ain’t even been bronze, you div
You ain’t even done ten years in this ting
Round here we don’t hear you’re a king, man will take your throne
Piss on your forehead, know your role
With cold spitters you ain’t never been toe for toe
Step in the ring, get shown the ropes’
We are led to believe this is what sparked the feud initially, we then saw Stormzy come right back at Chip with a response in the form of bars on Tion Wayne x Dutchavelli riddim ‘I Dunno’.
‘Is he sending for me? I dunno
What them boy there sell first week? I dunno
When they ask for the fee let ’em know that’s it 1.5 for the headline show
Little n****, that’s milli’s, not thousands
Stormzy the goat but they really been doubtin’
Came offline, I’ve been chillin’ in mountains
How about you, bro? I really sell albums
Wait, look, I thought I heard shots but the shoe don’t fit
Can’t flex on me with Louboutin drip
Cah my n****, that’s stupid shit
We all know that I’m stupid rich.’
Assumptions were made in abundance after these bars, but to put it simple, most of us came to the conclusion that Stormzy was basically saying “I have more P’s, I’m better than you.”
A couple of months after, the socials once again went into overdrive as a video of Stromzy pulling up to Chips yard surfaced on twitter. Adding major fuel to the fire, Chip but pen to paper and here we are, all going crazy on twitter- only being able to admire chips boldness. First send came in the form of ‘Flowers’- how long was it gonna be before we saw chip roll up to the iconic shell garage once more? Man was in beast mode from the get-go. After viewing, its fair to say we were all clock watching, waiting for a reply from Big Mike himself.
Instead of the eagerly awaited response from Stormzy, we once again received a further send from chip in the form of ‘Killer MC’. Here is the low down…
First things first, this beat is nuts! A dynamic instrumental, setting the pace for a trademark Chip diss. We were not disappointed, safe to say that he blew it out the park with the production alone! Fire, smoke and body bags… what more could you want from a diss track visual?
The Tottenahm spitter wastes no time, firing shots from the get go. Boasting his superiority when it comes to sending for his fellow MC’s.
“Didn’t ever really wanna be a killer MC, but man crossed the line, ima kill a MC”
Chip really takes the no chill approach when it comes to sending that’s for sure! The sell entitled “Mr Miyagi of the bars ting” really has wet our appetites for a Grime war with his call for a response in the shape of Stormzy.
Will we see Stormzy respond anytime soon?
Anyone brave enough to play ball in Chips lyrical warzone is bound to leave grime fans eager. We are all sat waiting patiently for the next move.
