GO round up with Chloe | Sept 2021

Here we are again! It’s ya girl Chloe Mykel back with ‘The Round Up’ for September. The year feels like it’s approaching its end FAST…but it’s not over yet so for now let’s wrap up the last month in Grime…

1. Chey – Solo
First up is a track by an artist I discovered a short time ago, and one that has been impressively consistent ever since. The way Chey spits with so much energy and passion, she’s a breath of fresh air when it comes to delivery. ‘Solo’ is surprisingly catchy – catchy enough to get stuck in your head (in the best way possible). I’m looking forward to seeing what’s next from her…

2. Wiley ft.Kozzie – Ain’t Gonna Fold
See this tune here?? Plenty of reloads from me last month! Wiley said ‘I’m am so clued up I might appear mad” and I said “I heeeaaarrr youuu!”.  I love everything about this one, the bars, the instrumental, Kozzie on the feature – a standout track on the album for me for sure.

3. J-Fresh ft. Clipson and Skatta – Trenches
This one is a bigggg tune! Trenches comes fully loaded with bars, flows, energy and everything in between. Clipson and Skatta float over the instrumental perfectly, proving to us that they definitely understood the assignment. Another certified banger from J-Fresh.

4. Frisco ft. Big Zeeks and Shanti Force – Flowers
Frisco makes it very clear that he can pretty much do anything with this one right here. Patois on point, he gifts us with a very different flavour here alongside Big Zeeks and Shanti Force; who make for the perfect collaborators on the track. Part of a double single offering entitled ‘Deuce’, it’s a welcome offering for me from the BBK spitter.

5. Laughta – BRB
The title track from her album BRB is an infectious anthem that made me wanna act brand new I can’t lie. There’s something about Laughta’s energy that makes me feel empowered, through both her artist presence and her music. It’s a yes from me.

Now it’s time for me to share with you 3 standout projects from September…

Wiley – Anti Systemic

I’ve been waiting for this one (like many) and I’m pleased to say it did not disappoint. The album is just what I expected from ‘The Godfather’ himself. Wiley has flawlessly connected dots between some of the Grime scene’s most weighted talent, and has put together a project that just feels right; both for him and for Grime as a whole.

Laughta – BRB

I had to feature this one, as it’s a project I’ve had on heavy rotation over the past month. Laughta is one of UK’s music’s most refreshing talents – with many strings to her bow, there’s not much she can’t do to be honest. Music however, is definitely her forté and somewhere I feel her self expression and infectious aura shine through. This project is a culmination of all the elements that make her the artist she is.

J-Wing – Boss Mode

Lastly, I had to shout out J-Wing for his latest body of work ‘Boss Mode’. It’s an eclectic mix of different sounds and flavours that work seamlessly together. From the instrumentals to the features, the EP as a whole was something I found myself going back to throughout the month.

Rhythm Rollers - GO round up with Chloe | Sept 2021

Rounding things off for this month with my music video of choice – Bruza’s ‘Deal Wiv It’. I LOVE a good conceptual visual, and this one from Bruza was a refreshing and undeniably fitting accompaniment to the track itself. The attention to detail was on point, and the audio was surely brought to life by Bruza’s stellar performance as a real “geezer”.
