Potter Payper ‘Round Here’

Essex veteran Potter Payper continues his “2020 Vision” with new drop ‘Round Here’

Review by Kase

Essex’ s Potter Payper has dropped ‘Round Here’, the cold first single from the long-awaited ‘Training Day 3’ – the third installment of his ‘Training Day’ mixtape trilogy.

On ‘Round Here’ Potter Payper delivers smooth flows and clever wordplay, stating his credentials as one of the UK’s realest rappers over an eerie production from M1onthebeat. The track is centred around a hard-hitting hook, which begins with Potter emphatically stating “We don’t play that p*ssy sh*t round here”.

The video for the track ends on an exciting preview of another track to come, presumably also from ‘Training Day 3’, in which he also demonstrates his lyrical wit over a relaxed beat.

The rapper, one of the UK’s most prodigious talents, has shown impressive workrate since his release from jail in June. The day after his release he dropped a short project entitled ‘2020 Vision’ centred around the eponymous ‘2020 Vision Freestyle’, which sampled Jay Z. It quickly became very clear that upon his return the rapper had lofty ambitions for his music, projecting his ‘2020 Vision’ logo onto various buildings in the city centres of London, Manchester and Birmingham and very quickly dropping high-quality visuals for two of the tracks from the project.

A long-term cult favourite rapper, Potter clearly now feels ready to take centre stage. If ‘Round Here’ is anything to go by then ‘Training Day 3’ should have old fans and new fans alike excited.
